Time for annual parades!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! While many are trying to ignore the fact
that the thermometer may dip to 3C this weekend, making us think about the
long winter ahead; there are others who are embracing the change of
weather as they know it brings them closer to Christmas!
And of course with Christmas comes Santa Claus! Working hard like
Santa’s elves is our very own Parades and Festivals of Lights Committee.
The dates have been set with the Tottenham Christmas Parade, Sponsored
by F&P Manufacturing scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd at 10am and the Beeton Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 10th at 10am.
Jackie Kieser, 2011 Parade Chair says, “The Beeton Santa Claus Parade is a truly small-town Ontario experience. We get some big floats and some fabulous homemade floats that our friends and neighbors put so much effort into.” Kieser goes onto say “We encourage all to come out and participate by organizing a float or to simply enjoy watching the parade and enjoy time with friends and family. The many joys of living in a small town you will recognize many faces on the floats and along the parade route!”
The Beeton Festival of Lights will be held at 6:00pm on the 10th at the Christmas tree located beside The Muddy on the same day as the Beeton Santa Claus Parade. There will be caroling, treats and wagon rides around Town to enjoy the Christmas lights. The Tottenham Festival of Lights will held at 6:00pm on the 3rd and will be held at the Tottenham Community & Fitness Centre.
Roman Dasek, Facility Coordinator for the Tottenham Community & Fitness Centre said, “I wanted to put the word Community back into the Fitness Centre. Not everyone uses the Fitness Centre or the ice but we have a fabulous facility here that welcomes the entire Community.” The Town’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department will be hosting a free outdoor skate and is organizing a concert also set for December 3rd whose details will be revealed soon.
If your family or organization would like to be part of the 2011 Beeton and/or Tottenham parades whether with a float, a band, entertainment, sponsor or volunteer, please contact Sarah Toth, BTBIA Co-ordinator at (905) 936-3424 or stoth@town.newtecumseth.on.ca. Parade entry forms are due by November 18th and may also be picked up at the libraries in Beeton and Tottenham.
