Flavours in the Field returning this summer
Culinary treat that can't be beat
Get ready New Tecumseth as “Flavours in the Field” a local culinary event, definitely one of the must-have event tickets last summer is making a comeback this August.
This event organized by the Beeton-Tottenham Business Improvement Association (BTBIA) will be held on Saturday, August 13th from 12-4pm. Those fortunate to get tickets ride the South Simcoe Railway from Tottenham to a private rail side location just west of Beeton. There guests will disembark from the train and make their way to a tented environment to enjoy food sampling from local restaurants as well as beer and
wine sampling.
Darlene Rupke, Chair of the Flavours event says “This event is intended to create awareness of our local businesses
with an experience involving our local resources.” She goes on to say that “Funds raised will go toward beautification
initiatives and future BTBIA projects for the benefits of downtown Beeton and Tottenham.”
This event was so popular that even after they were sold out more than 100 people were calling eager to obtain the much
sought after tickets. This year to accommodate the great demand the BTBIA is adding an extra train car so more people
may enjoy the experience. Sharon Niederhuber who attended the inaugural event in 2010 said “I eagerly await this year’s
event, and can assure you that I will be first in line to get my tickets!”
Here is a ‘sampling’ (pun intended) of the participants for 2011; A Taste of Freedom Restaurant & Country Inn, Village
Pizza Restaurant & Baja Luna Lounge, The Whistle Stop, Mark Anthony Brands, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery, Sleeman
Brewery, Joseph’s Estate Wines and way more.
Tickets go on sale June 1st and cost $60 per person. To purchase tickets visit the BTBIA office at 18 Queen Street North
in Tottenham, call (905) 936-3424 or email BTBIA Coordinator stoth@town.newtecumseth.on.ca Guests must be 19
