Chocolate advent calendars are great for kids to count down their agonizing wait until Santa comes on Christmas Eve, but how can they count down the days until the Beeton Santa Claus Parade? Hint, check out the storefront window display on Main Street in between All Things Silver and Barb’s Hava Java for a countdown calendar that is struck off daily. Also featured in the window is all the children’s artwork that was submitted for the Beeton Santa Claus Parade Poster Contest. The top three picks are now the advertising posters for the parade.
The big day is set for Saturday, November 27th at 11am as Santa makes his way down Main Street. The parade theme is “Beeton: 125 Years Strong - Then &
Now” in anticipation of Beeton’s 125th birthday celebrations that will take place in 2011.
The Committee supported by the Beeton-Tottenham Business Improvement Association (BTBIA) is planning a weekend of family events: November 26th a Christmas tree lighting and caroling at Centre and Main, the Parade on Saturday and on Sunday the 28th a $4 pancake and sausage breakfast from 8am-noon hosted by the Beeton Firefighters Association in the upstairs of Beeton Arena. Also on Sunday from 10am-noon there will be a free family skate at Beeton Arena sponsored by the BTBIA.
New this year is the offering of an outdoor Crafter Vendor Market on parade day from 9am-1pm on the green space at Centre and Main Streets . There is no charge to be a vendor but there is a simple registration form to be filled out.
Also new this year is that following the parade Santa will open his workshop on Main Street for a meet and greet for all to visit. Santa will set up his temporary digs in the currently vacant storefront on Main Street between All Things Silver and Barb’s Hava Java.
Float, Crafter Vendor and Band entry forms are due by November 15th and may be picked up at the following locations: D.A Jones Library, All Things Silver, Muddy Water Hotel and Ken & Bonnie’s Beeton Foodland.
