The Christmas season really gets rolling Saturday in Tottenham with the annual Tottenham Christmas Parade and Festival of Lights.
The parade sponsored by F&P Manufacturing and Honeyfield Communities is themed
“A Fairy Tale Christmas.” The parade starts at 10am from St. Thomas Aquinas and will travel
down Queen Street to Rogers Road, then to Dillane Street to Keogh Street ending at the Legion.
“Be on the look out for live reindeer in this year’s parade, it might be Dasher, Dancer or even
Rudolph,” says parade organizer Brenda Horan.
The Tottenham Festival of Lights, also on Saturday, gets underway at 6pm at the corner of
Queen and Mill Streets. The Beeton-Tottenham Business Improvement Association (BTBIA)
encourages you to help bring the Christmas spirit to Tottenham by decorating your home with lighting
and festive accents and participate in the Tottenham Festival of Lights competition.
Open to all Tottenham residents, the four categories this year are Traditional, Modern, Fairytale Christmas
and Griswold. Prizes will be awarded during the evening’s festivities.
Darlene Rupke of Seasons Floral is helping to organize says “Saturday night you can visit with Santa, enjoy
carolling with the New Tecumseth Singers, and enjoy some hot chocolate and treats courtesy of Tim Horton’s.
Wagon rides will depart from Queen and Mill at 7:30pm and will take you for a tour of lights around Tottenham.”
Call and register for the lighting contest with Darlene Rupke of Seasons Floral Studio 905.936.3337, seasonsfloralstudio@rogers.com or Sarah Toth, BTBIA Co-ordinator at 705.435.1787, email stoth@town.newtecumseth.on.ca. Please provide your name, address and selected theme.
