Innisfil, ON (July 14, 2011) -
The Innisfil Arts, Culture and Heritage Council is officially moving forward.
The decision to create the Arts, Culture and Heritage Council was enthusiastically made by the community participants at the planning meeting that was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Innisfil Town Hall.
The energetic group developed an Interim Steering Committee and several sub-committees to start drafting the Council’s constitution, plan their public relations and apply for funding.
Jeanette Luchese Jacobs, a local Innisfil resident and internationally exhibited visual artist, was chosen Interim Chair.
“I am very excited and honoured to be elected to this position,” she commented. “I am delighted to be working with such a diverse group of highly respected members of our community, with expertise and accomplishments that represent the interests of the arts - inclusive of literature, music, theatre, history, heritage, conservation, recreation, sports, tourism, culture and our faith based community. This is a very exciting time for Innisfil!”
Elected Interim Vice Chair, was Ruth Draper, a retired local teacher, artist, art educator and owner of Art Unique Gallery and Gifts located in Cookstown.
Draper said, “I am pleased to be part of the exciting developments that are happening in Innisfil. The Innisfil Arts, Culture and Heritage Council will help to make the residents aware of the many great activities that are happening in Innisfil, as well as inform tourists that it is a great place to spend their vacation”.
Next steps for the Innisfil Arts, Culture, and Heritage Council include starting the process of creating by-laws, building a constitution, incorporating, and developing a public relations plan including the creation a website.
