Postmaster House Grand Opening
Centre for Arts and Nature in Nobleton
The Postmaster House on Old King Road in Nobleton has
taken on a new dimension as a centre for arts and nature
with the recent partnership between King Music Centre,
Arts Society King (ASK), and the Humber River Shakespeare
Company.
The building has been the home of the King Music Centre
owned by Geordie Barnett, but the decision to expand the
operational scope means there will be more than ever
going on in the centre of Nobleton.
"They have allowed us to take over the first floor for Arts
Society King and Humber River Shakespeare," said Arts
Society director Judy Craig.
The Society is currently based at the museum but Judy
said "we will be in both places for now."
For Humber River Shakespeare Company artistic producer
Sara Moyle, the opening is an opportunity for the theatre
company to have a base in a place where they already
spend a lot of time.
"I spend a lot of time up here," she says. "We've worked with ASK for a long time. I think it's going to be a great partnership. We would use the space for auditions and to be a part of anything ASK is doing."
The reference to 'up here' comes from the fact that Humber River Shakespeare is a Toronto based theatre company, but travels around the region and has produced outdoor plays in and around King Township with great success and has garnered a big local following after their performances in the area over the past two seasons.
"The Postmaster House is a "Centre for The Arts and Nature" and will continue its wonderful working relationship with King Township Museum, King Township Public Library and the Toronto and Region Conservation," states Geordie Barnett.
The Postmaster House is located at 7 Old King Road in Nobleton.
